My First Music Fun
This boxed set contains an 8-book library and a portable music maker. Choose from 25 songs, 6 instrument sounds, and 4 drum beats! Mix and match rhythms, change the tempo, and add silly sound effects. Books feature music-themed stories, sheet music with lyrics, and lots of fun music facts.
One of the early iterations of the music player featured a drum pad and mallet, along with a digital display of the current instrument.
Another early design included three different electronic drums. Here, the catagorized drum, song, and sound selection layout begins to take shape.
Knowing that the music maker would need to fit within a predeterminded box size, I designed this vertically oriented version. I still like this speaker grill, but the vertical shape resulted in small piano keys.
In order to achieve the number of public domain songs required, we realized that we would need sharps and flats on the keyboard. I went back to a landscape orientation with this design, which is coming close to the final. Note that we still have a second color for the handle, which we would eventually eliminate to reduce cost.
This early box design shows the die cut window, sculpted handle, and feature callout that remained right up to the final box (I did not create the graphics for the final box, shown in the first image).
We're honing in on the final design with this version that features the horizontal keyboard, rotated to fit into the vertical box. The product was called My First Music Maker for the majority of iterations – until we found we could not use that name for legal reasons.
This version includes the sculpted music note handle we used in the final product. This was done to eliminate the need to translate the sculpted type for foreign editions. Here we've considered every song, instrument, and drumbeat combination to announce that there are more than 500 song variations!
I created this sell-sheet for use by our sales department. Now all of the many, many features of this product are assembled in a convenient one-page sheet.
